NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 17
by Chris Vasile - 12/29/2020

We have reached the final week of the NFL regular season, and there is still a lot left to play for. Starting at the bottom of the standings, the Jaguars and Jets have secured the Nos. 1 & 2 overall picks, respectively, for next year’s draft, but the remaining teams; Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Carolina, New York Giants, Detroit, and Denver; are all in play – depending on the results – to finish between No. 3 and No. 10.

Pools that extend into the NFL playoffs with our playoff writeup; Tiebreakers for team winning percentages; Coverage of standard and complex rules from popular survivor and suicide pool providers like ESPN Eliminator Challenge, NFL.com NFL Survivor, Yahoo Survival Football, RunYourPool.com, OfficeFootballPool.com, and more! In Week 13 of our suicide pool pick em, we got back to what we do best: winning. The Ravens, easily the best bet on the board, crushed the shorthanded Bengals and sent them to 1-10-1. NFL survivor pools are also very likely to violate state gambling laws. In every state, private contests are deemed to be illegal if they include three elements: an entry fee, a cash prize,. Pick one team each week that you think will Win (for Winners Pool) or Lose (for Losers Pool). If the team you pick loses, you get eliminated from the pool. You can be let back in (if your Pool Admin allows). Ties count as a win or loss (depending on your Pool Admin setting). FanDuel $100K NFL Survivor is all about playing the matchups. NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 16
by Chris Vasile - 12/24/2020

I’ve touched on the subject of next year’s NFL Draft a few times over the last couple of weeks as we approach the regular-season finale in just one week’s time. I said how typical it would be of the Jets to go and do the one thing their fan base doesn’t want them to do; and that’s winning a football game and costing themselves a chance at drafting Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence with the first overall draft pick.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 15
by Chris Vasile - 12/16/2020

It was a rather straightforward Week 14 for survivor pools, with 13 favorites winning outright. The three underdogs that did win were sexy picks based on the spot they were in. As we inch closer to the end of the regular season, it’s important to understand the motivation of each team and what each team is playing for. Teams at the bottom of the standings may want to play spoiler to a division rival or they may want to take their loss and move closer towards the offseason.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 14
by Chris Vasile - 12/9/2020

And then there were none. Week 13 saw the last undefeated team – the Pittsburgh Steelers – fall at home to the only team without a real name – the Washington Football Team. From what I saw, read and talked about prior to the game, there was a ton of love for Washington to be the team to knock off the Steelers. After falling behind 14-0, it seemed like Washington turned it up a notch while the Steelers ran out of gas.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 13
by Chris Vasile - 12/3/2020

We are officially at the quarter-poll of the 2019-20 NFL season, and to say it’s been anything short of stellar and unorthodox would be an understatement. Throughout the first 12 games, we’ve seen great plays, hilarious miscues, poor officiating, questionable coaching decisions, questionable decisions regarding COVID and the postponement of games, terrible season-ending injuries and a playoff picture that is no clearer today than it was a few weeks ago.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 12
by Chris Vasile - 11/25/2020

Week 11 in the National Football League was a pretty straight-forward one by most accounts. The teams that were supposed to win the games won, and the teams that pulled off the upsets (Dallas, Denver, Tennessee and Los Angeles) were all the better team on the day and rightfully deserved the win. As we enter into Week 12 of the season, teams in the playoff hunt will need to pull out all the tricks in order to win ball games, while teams that are looking forward to next season may try and iron out some kinks or already be mentally checked out.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 11
by Chris Vasile - 11/18/2020

Last week I promised you two teams that nobody would use, and both of them delivered as Oakland and Minnesota got the job done. It was smooth sailing for Oakland as they dismantled the Denver Broncos to the tune of 37-12. As for the Vikings, well, it wasn’t pretty, and trusting Kirk Cousins on Monday Night Football was ballsy, but the Bear’s offense showed us why it’s always a good idea to fade them. If you managed to make it through to the next round, congratulations. Your reward for that is a Week 11 slate that is filled with plenty of close spreads and some tight matchups.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 10
by Chris Vasile - 11/10/2020

If you stuck with the Packers last week, you were rewarded handsomely as their game against the San Francisco 49ers was really never in doubt. As for the rest of the survivor week, I managed to hit four winners out of my top five selections, and I’m sure that was enough to get some people through to the next week. As far as Week 10 goes, I’m sure by now you’ve used all of the big guns and are going to need to tread water with the teams that reside in the middle of the pack. Well, fear not, I have you covered with two games that feature teams nobody would use, and I absolutely love the spot they are in.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 9
by Chris Vasile - 11/4/2020

I apologize for suggesting the Packers as a top-play last week in your survivor pools. I had no idea that their defense would take their “cheese heads” nickname to heart and allow the Vikings run game to shred them to pieces. The Packers’ owe us a bounce-back performance. And if you were lucky enough to avoid them last week, they may be a great play this week as they take on a depleted San Francisco squad. If you’re hesitant to pull the trigger on the Packers, there are a few options I like that feature the lesser-used teams across most survivor pools.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 8
by Chris Vasile - 10/28/2020

If you’ve made it to Week 8 of your Survivor Pool, congratulations. You’ve survived perhaps one of the trickiest eight weeks I can remember, and you are doing so against some good competition, because most of the pools joined were busted in Week 5. This week we have some excellent choices to choose from – that is of course if you haven’t already used the top guns like Green Bay or Kansas City. If you have, I have a few teams that I really like this week that would make great options.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 7
by Chris Vasile - 10/21/2020

After six weeks of football, the big picture is finally starting to take shape. There are just three undefeated teams left, and two of them meet this week when the Titans host the Steelers. We know who the bad teams are, and then there is a jumble of teams who believe they are Super Bowl contenders and a second tier of teams who are playoff hopefuls. Because of that, it makes making survivor plays all the more difficult. There is a parity amongst the league that’s unlike anything we’ve seen in a while, and it’s likely here to stay for the foreseeable future.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 6
by Chris Vasile - 10/14/2020

Due to COVID, the NFL has had to manipulate the schedule moving forward to accommodate a bunch of teams. Tuesday’s game between the Bills and Titans was just the second-ever NFL game played on a Tuesday. And I’m not going to lie to you, I wish we had more Tuesday football. This week, there is no Thursday night game, but we do get a double-header on Monday when the Chiefs travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills and the Cardinals travel to Big D to take on the Dak-less Cowboys.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 5
by Chris Vasile - 10/7/2020

We are now into the “second quarter” of the NFL season (if you will), and from here on out the opportunities to lock in a very confident Survivor Pool pick are few and far between. I’m sure by now you’ve used a couple of the good teams like Kansas City, Baltimore, Seattle or even Buffalo, which leaves you scratching your head on which direction to go next. For starters, if you’re still alive in your pool, congratulations.

Suicide Football Pool Rules

As Dennis Green once said, “They are who we thought they were”. While Green was talking about the Bears, I’m referring to the 2020 Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs went into M&T Bank Stadium and laid a beating on the Super Bowl favorite (prior to Week 3) Baltimore Ravens. The result, which was never in question, prompted me to immediately think of that saying. Imagine getting 3.5 points with a $500-million quarterback, a team full of track stars and probably the most creative head coach that roams the sidelines this season? The Chiefs are who I thought they were. They are a fast team.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 3
by Chris Vasile - 9/23/2020

I hate to blame everything on the year 2020, but what the hell is going on this year? I’m not sure if it was smart of me to expect a smooth start to the NFL season. But outside of the on-field play, which has been relatively decent, the injuries that have occurred through two weeks are extremely concerning for fans and the league as a whole.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks and Advice: Week 2
by Chris Vasile - 9/16/2020

If you read this piece last week and decided it would be a good idea to use my advice for your survivor pools, my apologies. I didn’t anticipate Gardner Minshew turning into Joe Montana and torching a good Indianapolis defense, or the Eagles forgetting how to play football after going up 17-0 against a piss-poor Washington team. Those two games cost a lot of people their entry fee into Survivor pools across the globe. If you are in a re-entry pool, we got you covered this week. If not, hopefully you can use this insight and put it to use in other betting ventures for Week 2 of the National Football League.

With the start of another NFL season comes the start of the NFL betting in a variety of different forms. You have your game lines from the sportsbooks where you can pick teams to win straight up or against the spread. There are totals, first-half lines, second-half lines, team totals, and a million game and player prop bets to choose from for your consumption. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. With the start of another NFL season comes office pools, and my favorite, Survivor Pools.

Suicide football pool week 2

Don’t look now, but we are less than a week away from the start of the National Football League season. While the world suffered through a global pandemic from March through the present day, the NFL has been essentially operating as business as usual with the exception of the lack of preseason games and shortened training camps. Nonetheless, the NFL is back and me and the rest of the Doc’s staff couldn’t be more excited to get the season started and to start winning football wagers again.

by Matt Severance - 12/24/2019

Perhaps it was a good thing I had a family issue come up last week that prevented me from writing my Week 16 Survivor Pool advice story. Why? My top two picks probably would have been Seattle over Arizona and the Los Angeles Chargers in their final home game in that little soccer stadium beating the Raiders, a team I thought would be totally flat after losing the last-ever game in Oakland the week before.

Don't you just love egotistical rich athletes? Le'Veon Bell got a four-year, $52.5 million contract this past winter from the Jets with $35 million guaranteed. Pretty laughable enough that Bell couldn't play last Sunday against Miami because of the flu. The Jets sent him home on Saturday and told him to stay there as he was contagious.
